MUTAZIONE & OUTER SOUNDS SAUVIGNON BLANC

Something that you may not know about me is that I love plants. It's one of the hobbies that I've picked up more recently in my life, but I find it invigorating. The vibrant colors, the way they pick up after a much needed watering, the visible growth...its a very rewarding hobby. When I learned that Mutazione featured plants and gardening, I was sold.

I picked up this beautiful little gem a few weeks ago. I finished it within 3 days, and for about 2-3 weeks afterwards I kept wishing I could go back to that world. I wanted to keep playing as Kai, who travels to the island to care for her ailing grandfather. I wanted to keep learning about the characters and creatures that she meets. I wanted to keep watching all of them grow, and I wanted to keep tending the plants and gardens around the island. Mutazione has an incredible melancholic feel, with music so atmospheric and sometimes otherworldly that its makes for a game with an unique yet lovely experience. I loved every minute of it. It wasn't exactly what I expected. It surprised me in many ways, and touched me in others. The snippets of wisdom that Kai learns through other characters experiences and through her grandfather felt personal and real. If you like atmospheric games with exploration, plants, drama, interpersonal relationships and mystical elements...then this game is for you.

I paired this game with Outer Sounds Sauvignon Blanc for a few reasons. First of all, this white wine tastes like something you'd have on a secluded rainy tropical island. Its bright and lean, with notes of grapefruit, peach, and guava. It has a vegetal grassy finish, which is absolutely perfect considering the gardening nature of Mutazione. I love that the label features a beautiful view similar to those you'll see inside Mutazione. This wine is an absolute delight beside the game. I highly recommend a chill Saturday afternoon with this pairing, and maybe throw on the soundtrack while you're tending after the plants that live in your home.
